Birthday programs

 
Looking for a new and entertaining way to celebrate your child's birthday? Why not have it at the Lake View Nature center?

The Nature Center provides a fun and safe environment for kids to explore, create, and have fun! Our staff will help you plan a two-hour party that will delight your child. Each program includes a fun and educational presentation on a topic of your choice.

During the first hour, a Lake View Nature Center staff member will present a fun and educational program of your choice.

The second hour can be spent opening presents or enjoying food and/or birthday cake in the private party room, exploring the Nature Center exhibits on your own, or playing outside.

  • No balloons, please! (They're dangerous for our rabbit.)
  • Don't forget your camera or video!

ReptileMania!
Learn about turtles as you meet the Nature Center's turtles up close and personal.
 
Creepy Crawlies
Have fun getting to know the small creatures that live all around us.
 
Fishing Fun (Ages 7 and up)
Learn to bait a hook, cast, and fish safely in our stocked lake. Available April through October.
 
LVNC Rocks! (Ages 6 and up)
Be a junior geologist and make your own rock collection.
 
Animal Tracks
Be a nature detective and learn about animal tracks and signs. Make a plaster track paperweight to take home.
 
Teddy Bear Picnic
Bring your favorite bear along for a honey of a time. Learn about the three kinds of bears that live in the United States.
 

Fees:  $75 for Park District residents ($95 for non-residents) for up to 12 children. Additional participants are $5 per child up to a maximum of 16. Due to the limited size of the party room, 16 is the absolute maximum.

$25 non-refundable deposit required at registration to hold a date. Balance due on date of party.

Please give us at least 48 hours notice if you must cancel a scheduled party. Deposit is not refundable but may be applied to a rescheduled date.

Birthday programs last two hours and may be scheduled during daytime hours, after school, and Saturday mornings.

Groups should provide at least one adult for every ten children (1:4 for Fishing Fun). We do not charge for adults but we would ask that they help monitor the children. Siblings under two years are not counted as participants, but again, we would ask parents to keep an eye on them.

Please have your guests wear play clothes and dress to go outside. Most of our programs include outdoor time. No open-toed shoes. Party activities may get messy!

Please give us at least two weeks advance notice to book a date. Book early! Dates fill quickly.
