Oakbrook Terrace Park District has begun redevelopment of Heritage Park, where major construction is underway. The project - designed to meet the growing needs of the community - will feature a full-sized basketball court, new tennis and sand volley ball courts, a creative play area for children, a multi-use trail, and more. Targeted completion date of the new park is slated for November, 2017.
“Our number one priority and passion is providing our community with the best outdoor spaces, facilities, and programs possible. With so much natural beauty in our own backyard, why not make our park district the play and recreation destination for children, families, and residents?”, said Executive Director Cathy Fallon.
A portion of the project’s funding came from a grant from OSLAD (Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development), who shares in the park district’s vision of creating fun and safe recreational spaces.
Heritage Park is just one of several outdoor facilities that are operated by the Park District. Terrace View Park, Dorothy Drennon Park, the Lake View Nature Center, and the Oakbrook Terrace Fitness Center offer up programs and activities aimed at diverse groups of children, adults, and families.
